In Uganda, 42% of the population lives in poverty, HIV prevalence stands at 6%, and illiteracy affects nearly 26% of citizens. These challenges have left thousands of children orphaned or unable to afford education — forcing many onto the streets with broken dreams and no hope for a better future.
At Kairos Building Bridges Uganda (KBBU), we believe that education transforms lives. Our Education Support Initiative bridges this gap by sponsoring vulnerable children, providing them with school fees, scholastic materials, and holistic care through our network of partner schools.
Our Commitment
We are currently supporting 50 children — 40 in primary school and 10 in secondary school — ensuring that every child has access to quality education, nourishment, and emotional support in a caring Christian environment.
Our Core Support Services
1. School Fees
We fully cover tuition, examination fees, and academic trips each term for all sponsored children, ensuring they receive uninterrupted education.
2. Scholastic Materials
Each child receives essential school supplies such as uniforms, shoes, school bags, books, mathematical sets, and calculators — removing barriers that often prevent children from attending school.
3. Food and Nutrition
We recognize that children cannot concentrate on empty stomachs. Through our feeding program, we ensure every child receives nutritious meals both in boarding and day programs.
4. Treatment and Medical Care
Good health is vital to academic success. Each sponsored child undergoes a medical checkup upon enrollment and regular health screenings at the start of every academic term, conducted by qualified medical professionals from our partner hospitals.
5. Academic Monitoring and Mentorship
Our commitment extends beyond paying school fees. We maintain a strong relationship with partner schools by:
- Conducting regular school visits
- Monitoring academic performance through teacher consultations
- Identifying and addressing learners’ challenges
- Ensuring consistent attendance and participation
This hands-on approach helps us guide each child toward academic and personal growth.
Future Vision
Looking ahead, we aim to expand the program and strengthen sustainability by:
- Sponsoring more vulnerable children to access quality education
- Establishing Kairos Junior School for primary education
- Building Kairos High School for secondary-level students
- Establishing Kairos Farming grounds to save costs for food in the future.
To achieve this, we are seeking support to purchase land and construct modern classroom blocks, reducing long-term costs while providing continuity for our growing number of beneficiaries.
