Status: Extreme poverty
Namugambe Ruth was born in Kayunga District to hardworking parents who struggled daily to meet their family’s basic needs. Her father is a peasant farmer, and her mother supported the home by selling fried food at the local market. Over time, the physical strain of this work caused severe damage to her mother’s spine, leaving her in constant pain and in need of surgery.
Witnessing her mother’s suffering planted a powerful dream in Ruth’s heart to become a neurosurgeon. She hopes one day to heal others facing the same pain that changed her family’s life.
